ADC Criticizes Tinubu for Prioritizing Festival Over Security

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) issued a statement criticizing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for prioritizing the Argungu Festival amid a significant rise in insecurity across Nigeria. The statement, signed by Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, noted that nearly 1,300 Nigerians were reported killed within the last 41 days, with hundreds, including nursing mothers and children, abducted.

The ADC expressed concern over a video allegedly linked to the abduction in Kaiama, Kwara State, which challenges official figures on kidnapping victims. The party warned that armed groups are becoming increasingly bold, particularly in the Kwara corridor, indicating a loss of government control in strategic areas.

The ADC emphasized the need for coordinated rescue operations and transparent public briefings on the number of affected individuals. They also called for a security audit in the Kaiama and Kainji Lake forest corridor and stressed the importance of addressing the situation urgently to prevent further violence and protect citizens.
