Armed Attackers Kill 15 Villagers in Benue Cashew Harvest

On a recent date, armed attackers killed at least 15 villagers who were harvesting cashew nuts in Benue. The victims, mostly women and youth, were gathering cashew nuts around Ogbaulu when the assailants suddenly opened fire.

Reports indicate that the attackers arrived in the area as a large herd of cattle began to shoot sporadically, causing villagers to flee for safety. At least 15 bodies were recovered, and 11 victims sustained varying degrees of injury and were taken to a hospital in Ugbokpo for treatment.

Local residents reported that several individuals remain missing, including a woman who was allegedly abducted during the attack. Adam Ochega, the chairman of the Apa Local Government Area, confirmed the incident in a telephone conversation but noted that comprehensive details were still awaited.

The spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, DSP Udem Edet, did not respond to calls or text messages seeking comments regarding the attack.
