Armed Herders Kill Seven in Benue Community Attack

On Sunday night, armed herders attacked the Ukemberagya community in the Logo Local Government Area of Benue State, resulting in the deaths of at least seven individuals and injuries to four others. The attack began around 11 PM, with community leader Joseph Anawah confirming the fatalities, which included six named victims: Akor Gwakyaa, Msooter Gwakyaa, Aondoungwa Michael, Vershima Michael, Terna Michael, and Msughter Terzungw.

Those injured were taken to medical facilities in Anyiin Town and Ugba Town for treatment. The incident has raised concerns among residents, leading to appeals for the state and federal governments to intensify security operations to dislodge marauding armed groups.

Local government chairman Clement Kav reported the incident to the police, while spokesperson Udem Edet stated that she had not yet received a report on the attack. This incident follows a pattern of increasing violence in the region attributed to armed herders and local bandits.
