Armed Bandits Attack Zamfara Village, Many Killed and Abducted

On Friday night, armed bandits attacked Bunkasau village in the Zarummai Ward of Bukkuyum Local Government Area, Zamfara State. Sources reported that a large number of bandits, estimated at 80 on motorcycles, invaded the village, firing sporadically at residents.

The attack resulted in numerous fatalities and the abduction of several individuals, mostly women. Livestock belonging to the villagers was left behind.

Residents have called on the federal government of Zamfara to intervene and deploy security personnel to restore peace in the area. DSP Yazid Abubakar, the spokesman for the Zamfara State Police, confirmed the incident but could not ascertain the number of casualties.

The state command has deployed adequate personnel to the area and urged the community to cooperate by providing accurate information regarding the movement of the bandits to ensure a prompt response.
