Bandits Kill Three, Set Houses Ablaze in Zamfara Attack

On March 28, 2026, at approximately 22:30 hours, a group of bandits armed with AK-47 rifles attacked Dangoro Village in the Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State. According to DSP Yazid Abubakar, spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, the assailants invaded the community, shooting sporadically and setting several houses and silos ablaze.

Upon receiving reports of the attack, a joint police team and local vigilantes swiftly mobilized to the scene, engaging the bandits in a gun duel that successfully repelled the attack, forcing the criminals to flee into the bush. Unfortunately, three individuals lost their lives during the incident, including a member of the community protection guard.

Additionally, five others sustained gunshot injuries, while four suffered varying degrees of burn injuries. The bandits also destroyed several houses and silos containing food grains and livestock.

DSP Abubakar confirmed that the injured victims were evacuated to the Federal Medical Centre in Gusau for treatment and that the police command, led by CP Ahmad Bello, is committed to safeguarding lives and property while urging residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies.
