Armed Gang Robs Lagos Community in Daylight Attack

On a Friday, an armed gang of approximately 15 men invaded a community in Lagos, specifically along LASU Road in the Ojo area, robbing residents and passersby. The incident took place near Iyana School, where the gang, described by eyewitness Simpli Omowunmi, was heavily armed with guns and machetes and wore masks.

The assailants stormed several shops, including a popular supermarket, taking away goods and cash while traders and customers fled for safety. The robbery lasted several minutes without any police intervention, despite a police station being only three minutes away.

Residents expressed their fear of a potential return of the gang, highlighting the alarming increase in criminal activities in the area. Abimbola Adebisi, the police public relations officer, indicated that the incident stemmed from a clash between factions of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, which the gang exploited.

This incident raises concerns about security in the community, particularly given its occurrence in broad daylight.
