Armed Men Abduct Three Worshippers in Enugu Church

On August 2, 2026, armed men abducted three individuals at a Catholic Church in Inoyi, Affa Community, Udi Local Government Area, Enugu, during early Sunday mass. The Enugu State Police Command, through Police Public Relations Officer SP Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the incident, stating that the attack caused panic among residents.

A joint security operation involving police operatives, Forest Guards, and members of the Neighbourhood Watch was initiated to track the assailants. During the operation, one victim was rescued unhurt after the armed men abandoned them while fleeing.

However, the remaining two victims were taken by the suspects. Commissioner of Police Mamman Bitrus Giwa directed the Area Commander of Oji-River and the Head of the Violent Crime Response Unit to intensify operations and deploy all available resources for the safe rescue of the remaining victims.

The Commissioner also urged community members to provide credible information to assist the police.
