Gunmen Abduct Seminarian and Worshippers in Enugu Church

On Sunday morning, gunmen suspected to be kidnappers invaded St. Joseph Catholic Church in Inoyi, Affa, Udi local government area of Enugu State, abducting seminarian Lawrence Chidera Igbo and another worshipper identified as Emmanuel. A catechist was initially taken but was released shortly after the abduction.

Witness Christopher reported that the attackers initially abducted three individuals but later allowed the catechist to return. Following the incident, Daniel Ndukwe, the spokesman for the Enugu State Police Command, confirmed that a joint team of security operatives, including the police, forest guard, and local neighbourhood watch, was deployed to track the kidnappers.

Ndukwe stated that the team forced the assailants to abandon one victim, who was rescued unharmed. The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Bitrus Giwa, has ordered intensified operations to locate the remaining victims and apprehend the kidnappers.
