Hauwa’u Mukhtar Sentenced to Death for Terrorism Links

On Monday, a Katsina State High Court sentenced Hauwa’u Mukhtar to death by hanging after finding her guilty of conspiracy and aiding terrorism. The conviction marks a significant milestone for the Department of State Services (DSS) in combating criminal activities.

Mukhtar was arrested on September 16, 2023, at the Jibia motor park while attempting to transport 438 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition linked to a notorious bandit kingpin operating in the Dunburum forest area of Zamfara State. During interrogation, she confessed to her involvement and revealed connections to bandit logistics worth hundreds of thousands of naira.

The prosecution, led by Barrister Abubakar, established the case beyond reasonable doubt, leading Justice Abba Bawal to impose the death sentence in accordance with the Penal Code Law of Katsina State, 2021. This case underscores the DSS's capacity to intercept criminal actors and take decisive legal action.
