Army Arrests Suspected Kidnapper in Edo State Operation

On September 12, 2026, troops from the 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, under Operation WABAIZIGAN, arrested a suspected kidnapper named Olamide Oyeniyi in Obaretin Community, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State. The operation was conducted along the Benin-Sapele Road as part of efforts to disrupt criminal activities and ensure the safety of major transportation routes.

During the arrest, the troops recovered an AK-47 rifle, one magazine, and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Additional items seized included a Tecno mobile phone, two bags, a torchlight, a music box, and assorted charms.

The Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 4 Brigade, Kennedy Anyanwu, stated that the suspect and the recovered items are in custody for further investigation. Ongoing efforts aim to establish Oyeniyi's connections to other criminal elements and assess his potential involvement in kidnapping and related activities in the area.
