Obi Calls for Justice in Killing of Kano Commentator

Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress in 2027, condemned the killing of Ibrahim Khalil Dan Shagamu, a social media commentator based in Kano. Obi made his statement on Friday, urging the Kano State Government and security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.

Dan Shagamu was killed at his residence in Gaida Quarters, Kumbotso Local Government Area, Kano State, on Monday night around 11:30 PM. The Kano State Police Command reported that unknown assailants forcibly entered his home and attacked him with sharp objects.

He was taken to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The police confirmed that suspects were in custody and being interrogated, with forensic procedures underway.

Obi expressed his condolences to Dan Shagamu's family and stressed that no disagreement or criticism justifies violence, highlighting the need for freedom of expression as guaranteed by the Nigerian Constitution.
