Nigerian Army Launches Social Media Awareness Campaign

The Nigerian Army Cyber Warfare Command initiated a three-day social media awareness campaign from March 24 to March 26, 2023, at the Lt Gen T Lagbaja Hall in Ribadu Cantonment. The campaign, declared open by Maj Gen Abubakar Wase, aims to strengthen cybersecurity consciousness and promote responsible online engagement among military personnel.

Col Ikechukwu Akabik represented the Deputy Chief of Staff Administration at the event. The campaign will cover critical topics such as the impact of social media on security operations, managing digital footprints, cybersecurity best practices, and the role of social media in national defense.

Maj Gen Wase highlighted the dual nature of social media as both a tool for public influence and a potential risk if not properly managed. He urged participants to actively engage in sessions and leverage expert knowledge to enhance their professional competencies.

The campaign is part of the Nigerian Army's ongoing efforts to integrate modern cyber strategies into its operations to enhance national security.
