Army Foils Ambush in Kebbi, Neutralizes Five Terrorists

On a recent operation in Kebbi State, Major General Bemgha Koughna, the General Officer Commanding the 8 Division of the Nigerian Army, led troops in successfully foiling an ambush by members of the Lakurawa terrorist group near Mayama Hill. The attack occurred while Koughna's convoy was traveling through a volatile forest corridor, where they encountered heavy gunfire.

The troops responded immediately, employing coordinated firepower to engage and neutralize five terrorists during the gun duel. Following the clearance operation, no casualties were reported among the soldiers.

The operation also resulted in the recovery of several weapons, including an OJC gun, a PKT machine gun, two AK-47 rifles, four AK-47 magazines, and a significant amount of ammunition. Troops remain on heightened alert in the area, continuing patrols to prevent further attacks and to dismantle the terrorist network, thereby stabilizing communities across Kebbi State and the wider northwest region.
