Army Hospital Advocates Hygiene to Prevent Diseases

On Saturday, Brig.-Gen. Godwin Ogoh, the Chief Medical Director of the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna, urged troops and the barracks community to prioritize personal and environmental hygiene to prevent diseases such as cholera, tuberculosis, and pneumonia.

Speaking at the Barracks Health Committee program themed “Empowering the Barracks Community to Respond Positively to Health and Cleanliness,” Ogoh, represented by Brig.-Gen. D.C.

Ibe, emphasized that prevention is better than cure. He highlighted the role of the Nigerian Army Medical Corps as the “eye” of the Army regarding health and cleanliness.

The program aimed to promote preventive healthcare and healthy living, encouraging participants to maintain cleanliness in their homes and surroundings. Dr.

Ayamkop Attah delivered a health talk, stressing the importance of personal hygiene and environmental cleanliness. The event concluded with awards presented to barracks boys who demonstrated commitment to hygiene practices, reinforcing the call for continuous adherence to cleanliness and preventive healthcare.
