Nigerian Army Enhances Leadership Training for Commanders

The Nigerian Army has intensified leadership training for its commanders with a course held from 15-26 October 2026 at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre in Abuja. The training, examined by Major General Sundai Makolo, emphasizes the need for contemporary military operations to combine combat capabilities with emotional intelligence and strategic thinking.

This initiative aligns with the Chief of Army Staff's transformation agenda, aiming to build a professional and adaptable force capable of effective operations in joint and multi-agency environments. The program, which involved 61 participants from various units, covered topics such as emotional intelligence, mentorship, conflict management, and military justice.

Major General Jame Myam highlighted the challenges of contemporary operations, stressing the importance of creative and innovative leadership approaches. The course aims to bridge leadership gaps and improve decision-making capabilities among officers and soldiers in increasingly complex operational theaters.
