Troops Intensify Operations Against Criminal Networks

Troops from the Joint Task Force Operation Whirl Stroke, under the command of Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu, intensified their crackdown on criminal networks in Benue and Taraba states. The operation began on May 24, 2023, following reports of armed herder attacks along the Gbajimba-Agasha road in Guma Local Government Area, Benue State.

Troops evacuated two injured residents to a primary health center for treatment. On May 25, troops responded to an armed robbery incident in Taraba State, engaging in a gun battle that resulted in the neutralization of two armed robbers and the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, and cash.

Further operations on May 27 led to the arrest of three additional suspects linked to drug trafficking, with the recovery of 641 pieces of illicit drugs and 781,000 naira in cash. The latest operation occurred on May 31, resulting in the neutralization of two bandits and the recovery of combat-related items.

Major General Mose Gara commended the troops for their sustained efforts and urged the community to support security agencies.
