Army Rescues Kidnapped Victim, Recovers N8m Ransom

On April 25, 2026, troops from the Joint Task Force, under the command of Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, successfully rescued a kidnapped female victim in Plateau State and recovered N8 million that had been paid as ransom. The operation took place in the Quanpan Local Government Area, specifically in the Padam Forest, following the victim's abduction on April 19, 2026, in the Bauna area of Shendam Local Government Area.

The rescue was made possible through rigorous intelligence gathering, which led to the interrogation and arrest of suspects who confessed to the crime. After the rescue, the victim was taken to a general hospital in Shendam for medical attention and subsequently reunited with her family.

The troops continue to operate in the area to identify and apprehend members of the kidnapping syndicate, urging residents to cooperate and provide information to maintain peace and security.
