Troops Rescue Kidnap Victim, Recover N8m Ransom in Plateau

On April 25, 2026, troops operating in Plateau State successfully rescued a woman who had been kidnapped and recovered an N8 million ransom that had been paid by her family. The operation took place in the Bauna community of Shendam Local Government Area, following intelligence gathered about the victim's abduction on April 19.

Military sources reported a breakthrough that led to the arrest of suspects who confessed to their involvement in the kidnapping, which allowed troops to locate the victim in Pandam Forest, Qua Pan Local Government Area. The rescued victim was returned to her family and underwent medical evaluation at a general hospital in Shendam.

Additionally, the Kogi State Police Command reported the rescue of 17 individuals, including 15 pupils, who were abducted from Daarul Kitab School attached to an orphanage in Zariagi, Lokoja, on April 26, 2026. The police mobilized a joint security team to the scene, successfully rescuing the victims while efforts continued to locate the remaining nine abducted individuals.
