Nigerian Army Reshuffles Leadership, Names New Theatre Commander

The Nigerian Army has announced a significant reshuffle of its senior leadership, approved by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, aimed at improving operational effectiveness and aligning the command structure with the current security environment. The Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, stated that the reshuffle prioritizes key operational theatres and strategic appointments.

Major General IA Ajose has been appointed as Theatre Commander for the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI. Other notable redeployments include Major General AE Abubakar to the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre as Dean, Faculty of Operational Research, and Major General AM Umar to the Army War College Nigeria as Commandant.

Additionally, Brigadier General AA Bello has moved to the Defence Headquarters Department of Defence Operations, while Brigadier General MS Adamu has been appointed Commander of the newly established 8 Brigade. This reshuffle reflects the Army's commitment to ensuring effective leadership in critical areas.
