Osun NDC Chieftain Urges Police to Arrest Violence Sponsors

Nathaniel Oduyemi, a chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress in Osun State, called on the Nigeria Police Force and security agencies to identify, arrest, and prosecute sponsors of political violence ahead of the August 15 governorship election. He expressed concern over disturbing videos circulating on social media that show alleged political thugs attacking people and destroying property, forcing residents to flee for safety.

Oduyemi condemned all acts of political violence, stating that no political office is worth the loss of lives. He urged the police to act swiftly to prevent the situation from escalating and to ensure justice is served.

Oduyemi appealed to President Bola Tinubu to intervene and restore peace in the state, emphasizing the need for dialogue over violence. He also called on parents, guardians, and community leaders to discourage youth from engaging in violence and to empower them instead.

Oduyemi reiterated his commitment to peace and urged stakeholders to work towards preserving democracy in Osun State.
