Arsenal Signs Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United

Arsenal has officially signed Brazil international midfielder Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United on a long-term contract, as announced on Saturday. The 28-year-old joins Arsenal after spending four-and-a-half seasons at Newcastle, where he made nearly 200 appearances and was instrumental in the club’s Carabao Cup victory in 2025.

Guimaraes also contributed to Newcastle's qualification for the UEFA Champions League in two seasons. He began his career with Audax in 2015, later moving to Athletico Paranaense, where he won four major trophies before joining Lyon in January 2020.

After two seasons in France, he transferred to Newcastle in January 2022. Guimaraes is known for his versatility, capable of playing as a defensive midfielder or in a box-to-box role.

He has made 48 appearances for Brazil, participated in the recent FIFA World Cup, and won a gold medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. Arsenal's sporting director Andrea Berta stated that Guimaraes would strengthen the midfield and provide leadership and competition.

He will wear the number 39 shirt and join his new teammates immediately, pending regulatory processes.
