Nigeria Advocates Stronger Partnerships for Agrifood Security

The federal government of Nigeria has urged for stronger partnerships among African governments, research institutions, development partners, and the private sector to accelerate agricultural transformation and enhance food security across the continent. This call was made by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Sen.

Abubakar Kyari, during the closing ceremony of the 9th Africa Agriculture Science Week and the 10th General Assembly of the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA) in Abuja. Sen.

Dr. Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, emphasized the importance of science-driven partnerships for climate resilience and increased productivity.

He noted that the event showcased Africa's commitment to utilizing research and innovation for agrifood system transformation. The newly elected Chairperson of the FARA Board, Dr.

Mark Cyubahiro Bagabe, pledged to enhance agricultural research and innovation while prioritizing youth and women's participation. The assembly featured significant discussions, policy dialogues, and technology demonstrations aimed at fostering practical solutions for farmers across Africa.
