Nigeria Advocates Science-Driven Partnerships for Agriculture

On July 28, 2026, Sen. Dr.

Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, delivered the Opening Address at the Science and Partnership for Agriculture Conference (SPAC) 2026, part of the 9th Africa Agriculture Science Week (9AASW) and the 10th General Assembly of the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA) in Abuja. He reaffirmed Nigeria's commitment to promoting science, innovation, and strategic partnerships as essential for sustainable agricultural transformation and food security across Africa.

Abdullahi described the conference as a crucial platform for experts and stakeholders to address Africa's agricultural challenges and innovate solutions aligned with the CAADP Kampala Declaration. He noted the Federal Government's reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu aimed at enhancing food security through research, innovation, and partnerships.

Abdullahi acknowledged Africa's progress in establishing agricultural research institutions and emphasized the need for stronger collaboration to tackle emerging agricultural issues, calling for a new generation of scientists equipped with multidisciplinary skills.
