Quadri Aruna Exits ITTF World Cup After Matsushima Loss

Quadri Aruna was eliminated from the ITTF World Cup following a straight-set defeat to Sora Matsushima in his final group match at the Galaxi Arena in Macao. Aruna needed a victory to keep his hopes alive after a previous 3-0 loss to Tomislav Pucar.

Matsushima, the world number eight, dominated the match, winning 12-10, 11-3, and 11-5 in just 17 minutes and 35 seconds. Aruna struggled to find his rhythm, managing only 18 points compared to Matsushima's 34, and conceded seven points on his own serve.

This defeat confirmed Aruna's early exit from the tournament and extended his winless streak to ten consecutive matches in major international competitions, with his last victory dating back to September 2025 against Huang Youzheng. The 37-year-old athlete's performance has been challenging, as he has won only one game in his last 14 matches.

Following this exit, Aruna will turn his attention to the World Team Table Tennis Championship in London later this month.
