Sabalenka Begins US Open Title Defense with Win

Aryna Sabalenka commenced her 2026 US Open title defense with a victory against Camila Osorio, winning in straight sets 6-2, 6-4 on Arthur Ashe Stadium. This win marks the start of her quest for a historic third consecutive championship at the US Open.

Sabalenka, currently ranked world No. 1, has now achieved 14 consecutive match wins at Flushing Meadows. She is attempting to join Chris Evert and Serena Williams as the only women in the Open Era to win three successive US Open singles titles.

Despite her strong start, Sabalenka has faced challenges in recent months, including early exits at the French Open and Wimbledon. In her next match, she will face Russian qualifier Polina Iatcenko.
