IGP Disu Unveils New Strategies for Nigeria's Police Force

Inspector General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu recently outlined new operational strategies for the Nigeria Police Force during a maiden meeting with senior police strategists in Abuja. His central vision emphasizes strengthening professional discipline and implementing intelligence-driven policing to better address the country's evolving security challenges.

Disu highlighted the need to reinforce accountability and rebuild public trust in the police. He stressed that improving police-community relations will serve as a major pillar of the new policy framework.

Disu also announced plans for a comprehensive review of the recruitment process to ensure individuals of sound character and commitment are admitted into the force. He emphasized the modernization of training curricula across police institutions to reflect emerging security realities and global best practices.

Additionally, he noted the importance of community policing and the need for sustained engagement with community leaders and civil society organizations to foster partnerships in security management.
