Nigerian Singer Dies Due to Hospital Negligence After Snakebite Complications

Nigerian singer Ifunanya Nwangen passed away due to hospital negligence at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Jabi, Abuja, following complications from a snakebite. The Senate, led by Senator Idiat Adebul, called on health regulatory agencies, including the Federal Ministry of Health and NAFDAC, to make anti-venom mandatory in hospitals nationwide.

Nwangen, a soprano singer, experienced severe neurotoxic complications from the snakebite. Despite being informed of the urgent need for neostigmine, the hospital allegedly ran out of supplies, leading to her tragic demise.

Adebul emphasized the importance of stocking essential antidotes in hospitals to prevent similar incidents in the future.
