Ebelechukwu Nwachukwu Becomes NIA's First Female Chairman

Ebelechukwu Nwachukwu has been appointed as the first female chairman of the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA), marking a historic achievement in the 55-year existence of the organization. The investiture took place recently in Lagos and was attended by prominent figures such as Dr.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Director-General of the World Trade Organization, and Jim Ovia, founder of Zenith Bank PLC. Nwachukwu, who is the current Managing Director of Rex Insurance Limited, emphasized her commitment to transforming the Nigerian insurance industry during her two-year tenure.

She aims to enhance market conduct, increase insurance penetration, and improve public perception of insurance products. Nwachukwu's previous roles include Managing Director at NSIA Insurance and Zenith General Insurance, among others.

During the ceremony, Olusegun Ayo Omosehin, the Commissioner for Insurance, charged her with raising the standards of claim payments and expanding the insurance market.
