Asaba 2026: MMA Debuts as Scoring Sport in BIPOGA

The 15th Biennial Police Games (BIPOGA) scheduled for Asaba in 2026 will pioneer Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) as a fully recognized scoring sport, a landmark development reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). This initiative positions the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) at the forefront of MMA development in Nigeria.

Kalu Chijiok Erem, Chairman of the Nigeria Police Mixed Martial Arts Association and a board member of the Nigeria Mixed Martial Arts Federation, described this as a historically defining moment for the sport's growth nationwide. The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, emphasized the commitment to developing MMA within the force, supported by outstanding police MMA athletes such as CPL Juliet Chukwu, CPL Juliet Ukah, and CPL Bernard Ewah.

The journey began with the first Inspector General of Police Open National Mixed Martial Arts Championship held in Abuja from December 1-4, 2023. The 15th BIPOGA will officially open on a Saturday and conclude on February 21, 2026, with a theme emphasizing discipline and dedication.
