Aston Villa Signs Ibrahim Mbaye for £47 Million

Aston Villa has completed the signing of 18-year-old Senegal winger Ibrahim Mbaye from Paris St-Germain for a fee of 55 million euros (£47 million). Last season, Mbaye scored three goals and provided two assists in 31 games across all competitions, contributing to PSG's successful defense of their Ligue 1 and Champions League titles.

He played in all four of Senegal’s matches at the 2026 World Cup, scoring in a 3-1 defeat against France, thus becoming the youngest African player to score at a men’s World Cup. Mbaye joined PSG in the summer of 2018 from FC Versailles 78, advancing through their youth academy and making his senior debut in August 2024 at the age of 16.

Although born in France and initially representing Les Bleus at youth level, he switched his international allegiance to Senegal in 2025. Mbaye is the latest addition to Unai Emery’s squad, which has seen significant changes, including the departures of Morgan Rogers to Chelsea for £117 million, Ezri Konsa to Arsenal for £55 million, and Ollie Watkins to Al-Hilal for £51 million.
