ASUU Launches Indefinite Strike at Three Lagos Universities

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has announced an indefinite strike affecting Lagos State University (LASU), Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), and Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH). This action follows the expiration of a 14-day ultimatum to the Lagos State Government on August 31, which did not yield a satisfactory resolution to the union's demands.

In a statement signed by ASUU officials from the three universities, the union expressed disappointment over the government's failure to initiate dialogue before the September 13 deadline. The primary demand is the full domestication and implementation of the December 2025 ASUU-FGN Agreement across state-owned universities, including the implementation of the Consolidated Academic Tools Allowance and other welfare provisions for both serving and retired academic staff.

ASUU stated that the strike would continue until meaningful engagement leads to a satisfactory resolution and the agreement's implementation. The union has the backing of its national leadership and has urged students and parents to remain calm.
