ASUU Declares Indefinite Strike at Ondo Medical University

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo (UNIMED), declared a total, comprehensive, and indefinite strike on Thursday, August 27, following an emergency congress meeting. The decision was made after a 14-day ultimatum to the Ondo State Government and university administration expired without addressing outstanding issues related to the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU agreement and accrued arrears dating back to January 1, 2026.

The strike, effective from 11:25 a.m. on the same day, will disrupt all academic functions, including lectures, assessments, examinations, and research project supervision. The union, led by Chairperson Comrade Abraham Oladebeye and Secretary Comrade Adeniran O.

Akinola, stated that the strike would continue until their demands are met. ASUU-UNIMED also mandated its Branch Executive Council to engage the public and media to explain their grievances and to monitor compliance with the strike directive.
