ASUU rejects FG’s ₦10m loan, threatens fresh protests

ASUU has rejected the Federal Government's offer of a ₦10 million loan and has threatened to launch fresh protests if their demands are not met. The decision was made during a National Executive Council meeting at Usmanu Danfodio University in Sokoto, where President Christopher Piwuna signed a communiqué outlining the union's stance.

ASUU criticized the loan scheme, stating that they would not act as guarantors for a loan they know nothing about. Instead, they urged the government to focus on resolving outstanding issues, such as the release of withheld salaries.

The union also called for the conclusion of the renegotiation of the 2009 agreement and other key issues. ASUU plans to organize nationwide protests to push for their demands, accusing the government of delaying resolution on critical matters.
