ASUU-SLUK Sets October 31 Deadline for Jigawa Government

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, Sule Lamido University Kafin Hausa (ASUU-SLUK), has issued a new deadline of October 31, 2026, for the Jigawa State government to address its outstanding demands related to the 2025 ASUU-FGN agreement. The union, led by Chairman Comrade Idris Muhammad Chiromawa and Secretary Salisu Yunusa, stated that failure to meet this deadline would result in a total and comprehensive strike starting November 3, 2026.
This decision followed a special meeting where the union acknowledged the government's efforts to resolve the issues but emphasized the need for timely action. Previously, the union had set a deadline of September 15, 2026, which the state government attempted to address through a stakeholders’ meeting.
The union's congress also noted the government's directive to restructure the Payroll Office software and assured additional funding for the university. The union demands full implementation of the agreement, including payment of all outstanding arrears from January 2026.
