Uba Sani Approves ASUU Salary Agreement for KASU Staff

Governor Uba Sani has approved the implementation of the 2025 Federal Government–Academic Staff Union of Universities (FGN–ASUU) Salary Agreement for academic staff of Kaduna State University (KASU), effective from October 2026. This decision was disclosed by the Commissioner of Education, Prof Abubakar Sani Sambo, during a press briefing on Friday.
The approval follows the recommendations of the nine-member Government–KASU/ASUU Negotiation Committee, which was established by Governor Uba Sani to address the union's demands. The approved package includes provisions from the 2025 FGN–ASUU Agreement, such as the revised CONUASS and Consolidated Academic Tools Allowance (CATA).
Despite these measures, the KASU branch of ASUU has initiated an indefinite strike action. The Governor also approved a one-off payment of ₦300 million Earned Academic Allowance to address a backlog of over ₦800 million in accumulated entitlements since 2016.
Prof Sambo urged ASUU and other unions to engage in dialogue to resolve differences and improve educational outcomes.
