ASUU Gives 14-Day Ultimatum to Government Over Unmet Demands

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Nigerian government, threatening to shut down universities if their demands are not met. ASUU cited unaddressed issues such as the renegotiation of the 2009 agreement, revitalization funds for universities, salary arrears, and sustainable funding mechanisms.

The union expressed frustration with the government's lack of commitment to resolving these issues, leading to the decision to embark on industrial action. ASUU's President, Chris Piwuna, highlighted the neglect of the education sector by the government and emphasized the urgent need for action to prevent disruptions in the academic calendar.
