ASUU Issues 14-Day Ultimatum to Nigerian Government Over University Crisis

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Nigerian government, threatening to shut down public universities if their demands are not met. ASUU President Chris Piwuna stated that lecturers can no longer tolerate the government's neglect of the university system and failure to honor existing agreements.

The ultimatum, which expires in 14 days, may lead to a warning strike followed by a total indefinite industrial action if the government fails to address the issues. ASUU's demands include the renegotiation of the 2009 agreement and adequate revitalization of the university system.

The union is urging the Federal Government to take immediate action to avoid disruptions in the education sector.
