United Nigeria Airlines to Launch Lagos-New York Flights

On the occasion of its fifth anniversary, United Nigeria Airlines, led by Chairman Professor Obiora Okonkwo, announced plans to launch direct flights from Lagos to New York by mid-2026. The airline, which has transported 2.5 million passengers since its inception, has placed an order for 11 aircraft, including two A330-200s and six 737-800s, to prepare for this expansion.

The first A330-200 is scheduled for delivery on July 26, 2026, with the second expected in October 2026. The airline aims to commence additional regional routes, including Dakar, Monrovia, and Johannesburg, by the end of the second quarter of 2026.

Furthermore, it plans to initiate international flights to destinations in the Gulf, Europe, and America during the summer of 2026. Okonkwo emphasized the need for improved transit facilities at Nigeria's major airports to enhance competitiveness against foreign airlines.

The airline has also achieved IATA membership and has a commitment to maintaining international safety standards.
