BoConcept Blends African Art with Scandinavian Design

BoConcept, a Scandinavian furniture house located in Victoria Island, Lagos, has been promoting the Art Meets Design concept for over a decade, influencing how Nigerians incorporate art into their living spaces. Derrick Chidumebi, the Head of Marketing at BoConcept and Nomadic Art Gallery, noted a trend where individuals are now more intentional about selecting artworks that reflect their identity and fit their spaces.

This shift is also evident in corporate environments, where art is integrated into office design. Charlotte Obidairo, who launched the BoConcept franchise in Nigeria in 2014, recognized the need to connect Scandinavian furniture with African home aesthetics.

By showcasing African art alongside their furniture, BoConcept has created a unique blend of high-end modern design and cultural expression. Notable furniture pieces, such as the Imola chair and Sweetart chair, exemplify this artistic integration, enhancing the overall aesthetic of homes and offices.
