Ronaldo Ranked 10th Greatest Player in Man United History

Cristiano Ronaldo has been ranked as the 10th greatest player in Manchester United’s history by The Athletic in a ranking published by football writer Andy Mitten on Wednesday. This ranking acknowledges Ronaldo's significant contributions during his two spells at Old Trafford, particularly under former manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ronaldo joined Manchester United from Sporting CP in 2003, making 346 appearances and scoring 145 goals before transferring to Real Madrid in 2009 for £80 million. During his first spell, he won nine trophies, including three Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League in 2008, where he scored 42 goals in all competitions.

His performance that season earned him the Ballon d'Or, making him the first United player to win it since George Best, Denis Law, and Bobby Charlton. Former teammates, including Patrice Evra and Gary Neville, praised Ronaldo's development and skills, while strength and conditioning coach Mike Clegg noted his dedication and professionalism.

Ronaldo returned to Manchester United in 2021, scoring 24 goals in his first season, but his second spell ended in November 2022 after a public disagreement with the club.
