Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, publicly reached out to former Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, with a warm birthday message amidst the ongoing controversy surrounding the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primaries. In a post shared on his Facebook page on Wednesday, Atiku referred to Amaechi as a "brother and fellow patriot," praising his long-standing contributions to the governance of Rivers State and wishing him continued strength and good health.

This message came after Amaechi openly rejected the outcomes of the ADC presidential primaries, describing the results as illegitimate and asserting that the process did not reflect the will of party members. In a statement shared via X on Tuesday, Amaechi dismissed the results as concocted and raised concerns about the credibility of the exercise, claiming that approximately 80 percent of party members denied participation in the voting process, which he argued undermined the credibility of the primaries and weakened internal democracy within the party.
