Atiku Abubakar Critiques Tinubu's Economic Policies

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has accused President Bola Tinubu of inadequately addressing the economic hardships faced by Nigerians, particularly in light of rising costs of living. In a statement from Phrank Shaibu, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication to Atiku, it was asserted that the political discourse has shifted from mere economic statistics to the tangible inability of Nigerians to afford basic necessities such as food, transportation, and healthcare.

Shaibu criticized the government's recent promises to introduce cheaper transportation as politically inconsistent, given the prolonged economic difficulties experienced under the Tinubu administration. He stated that Atiku's proposed Atiku Economic Recovery Plan (AERP) aims to reduce costs by supporting domestic refineries and lowering fuel prices.

Additionally, Shaibu condemned the reliance on the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) for education financing, arguing that it fails to address the need for affordable education. The statements reflect a growing political contention as the 2027 presidential election approaches.
