Atiku Abubakar Blames Tinubu for Nigeria's Insecurity

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, accused President Bola Tinubu's administration of exacerbating Nigeria's insecurity through alleged underfunding of key security institutions. He made these remarks in response to comments from Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno, the Senate Chief Whip, regarding the implementation of the 2026 national budget.

Atiku stated that the senator's observations highlighted serious concerns about public finance management and the execution of the budget by the Federal Government. He stressed that Nigeria faces significant security challenges, including terrorist attacks, banditry, and kidnappings, and questioned whether security agencies were receiving the funds approved by the National Assembly.

Atiku argued that if appropriated funds for security operations are not released, the government must explain the struggles faced by security agencies. He called for scrutiny of resource allocation in light of major security incidents, asserting that every massacre should prompt questions about the adequacy of funding for security agencies.
