Atiku Abubakar Condemns Attack on ADC Office in Rivers

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, condemned the violent attack on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) office located in Ubima Ward, Ikwerre Local Government Area, Rivers State. The incident occurred on Friday when gunmen invaded the ADC office, setting it ablaze.

This attack was reportedly linked to a revalidation exercise by the ADC and coincided with an attempt to block the motorcade of former governor Rotimi Amaechi. Abubakar described the actions of the thugs as a dangerous development aimed at weakening the opposition and destroying its properties.

He emphasized that this was not merely an attack on the ADC but an assault on democracy itself, calling for the protection of lives and properties of opposition members. He urged the Tinubu-led APC administration to ensure an independent investigation into the attack and to prosecute those responsible according to the law, warning that failure to do so could encourage further violence against opposition groups.
