Amaechi Escapes Gunmen Attack in Rivers State Violence

On Thursday night, Chibuike Amaechi, a former Minister of Transport and a prominent member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), narrowly escaped an attack by gunmen in Ubima, Rivers State. The assailants, suspected political thugs, engaged in a gun duel with security operatives while attempting to disrupt Amaechi's visit to the community.

During the attack, they set fire to the ADC secretariat in Ubima, which is also Amaechi's hometown. The gunmen reportedly opened fire on Amaechi's convoy, leading to a chaotic scene with sporadic gunfire.

Amaechi addressed party members, urging calm and commending the swift response of security agencies, including the police and the Department of State Services (DSS). He emphasized the need for adequate security measures to protect lives during the electoral period and condemned the violent attack on the ADC's facilities.

The ADC has expressed concern over the increasing pattern of political violence and intimidation against its members.
