Gunmen Attack Rotimi Amaechi's Convoy in Rivers State

On Friday, former Minister of Transport Rotimi Amaechi's convoy was attacked by gunmen in Ubima, Ikwerr Local Government Area, Rivers State. The incident occurred around 12:15 PM as Amaechi arrived in the community.

Suspected thugs had already set up roadblocks to turn back vehicles associated with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) members attending the visit. Earlier, on Thursday night, these miscreants had set fire to the ADC office in Ubima, Amaechi's hometown.

During the attack, sporadic gunfire was reported, with bullets hitting the gate of Amaechi's family house. Security operatives engaged the attackers, who fled into the bush.

Amaechi thanked the police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for their swift intervention and called for calm among party members. He urged the state governor to enhance security measures to prevent further violence and emphasized the need for the ADC to mobilize its members ahead of the elections.
