Atiku Accuses Tinubu of Blocking PDP Event in Abuja

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), accused President Bola Tinubu of undermining democratic institutions and attempting to weaken opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections. His statements, issued on Saturday, were a reaction to the denial of access to a public event venue in Abuja by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

Atiku described this action as an abuse of power and part of a broader strategy by the federal government to suppress political opposition. He argued that the refusal to allow the PDP to hold its event reflects a growing pattern of intolerance towards opposition parties under the Tinubu administration.

Atiku emphasized that public facilities should be accessible to all Nigerians regardless of political affiliation and accused the administration of acting in a partisan manner. He called for equal access to public facilities for all political parties and warned that such actions threaten the foundations of democracy in Nigeria.
