Atiku Accuses Tinubu of Undermining Democracy Ahead of 2027

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), accused President Bola Tinubu of undermining democracy and being afraid of free and fair elections as Nigeria approaches the 2027 general elections. In a statement issued on Saturday by his media office, Atiku reacted to the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) denying the People's Democratic Party (PDP) access to public venues in Abuja.

He described this action as an infringement on the constitutional rights of political parties and a blatant abuse of their rights. Atiku alleged that the Tinubu administration is systematically targeting opposition parties and using public institutions to weaken them.

He called on FCTA Minister Nyesom Wike to reverse the decision and allow opposition parties unfettered access to public and private facilities for legitimate political activities. Atiku warned that such actions threaten Nigeria's democracy and urged civil society to rise against authoritarianism.
