Okechukwu Urges Atiku to Withdraw from 2027 Race

Osita Okechukwu, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to withdraw from the 2027 presidential race. Okechukwu reminded Atiku of his past statements supporting zoning principles during Goodluck Jonathan's presidency, arguing that adhering to these principles would help maintain political balance and unity in Nigeria.

He expressed concern that Atiku's candidacy could destabilize the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and contribute to the current political crisis. Okechukwu insisted that Atiku's withdrawal would promote fairness among the country's regions and strengthen democracy.

He questioned whether Atiku would reconsider his position, emphasizing the need for a change in approach. Atiku has previously contested for the presidency multiple times, including in 2007, 2011, 2015, 2019, and 2023, where he faced significant competition from Bola Tinubu and Peter Obi.

The 2027 presidential election is anticipated to be highly competitive.
