APC Chieftain Urges Atiku to Withdraw from 2027 Race

Osita Okechukwu, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), called on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to withdraw from the 2027 presidential race. Speaking in Enugu, Okechukwu reiterated his stance that Atiku should defer his ambitions to allow the South to complete its turn in the presidency, which is part of a power rotation agreement between the North and South.

He referenced the Southern Political Progress Amalgam Forum (SPPAF), which has encouraged Atiku to carefully consider his choice of a vice presidential candidate to strengthen support in the South. Okechukwu dismissed calls from the SPPAF, stating that Atiku should prioritize the overall interest of Nigeria.

He noted that Atiku's previous defense of power rotation during Goodluck Jonathan's administration contradicts his current position. Okechukwu expressed concern that Atiku's continued candidacy could destabilize the Democratic Party and urged him to uphold the principles of equity and political stability in Nigeria.
